About
Excellence Car Hire is based on Bryden Road in Harare and rated 4.5 from 13 Google reviews. It suits travellers who want a sturdy vehicle for a longer self-drive and are happy to deal with a smaller local firm.
The fullest account comes from a couple who hired a Hilux double cab for ten days. A driver met them at the airport in the vehicle, which had room for six bags, and took them to the office to sign and pay by international Visa card. They found the car clean, covered at the back so their luggage stayed secure, and comfortable on both tar and very bumpy gravel. The deposit came back in full after a quick check, and they were driven back to the airport. They reckoned it cost well under what the big international brands were asking.
Other reviewers mention a good fleet and reliable service. The one complaint is location: the office is a couple of kilometres from the city centre, and one customer wished it were more central.
