About

Nyangombe Falls is a large waterfall in Nyanga, reached by a rough drive off the main road and then a walk down to the viewpoints. It suits visitors with some fitness and a vehicle that can handle dirt roads. It is rated 4.5 from over 430 Google reviews.

Visitors keep saying the falls are bigger and louder than they expected. One found local guides at the site who showed them the best viewing spots. How much water you see depends on the season. One visitor who went in the drier months found them smaller, and was told by locals to come back in the rainy season to see them at full size.

Access is the main thing to plan for. Several reviewers describe the road down as rough and dusty. They say a small car struggles, and a high-clearance vehicle or 4x4 is the safer choice.

The walk to the falls is also more demanding than some expect. Reviewers recommend closed shoes or proper hiking footwear.

“Much bigger than I was expecting. It's quite a drive down from the main road, very rough terrain. The walk to the falls requires decent shoes and a moderate level of fitness. There were some guides there showing us to the best viewing spots. $29 for a car and 2 people”

“The falls were breathtakingly beautiful. During this time of the year until winter the falls will be somewhat small but the locals advise to visit again during the rainy season to experience the full extent/size/area of the waterfall”

“The falls are majestic! Roaring always. Getting there is a bit exhausting when using a small car. Higher clearance vehicles most preferable.”
