About

Warthogs Safari Camp is a lakeside camp on Powerlines Road in Kariba, with camping, tents, a bar and a restaurant. It suits travellers who want an easy base by the water, including people getting ready for a trip out on the lake. It is rated 4.2 from over 160 Google reviews.

The view over Lake Kariba and the wildlife on the shore are the main draw. Guests mention hippos out of the water, waterbuck, elephants and zebras, and one watched a fish eagle land in the tree beside them. Campers liked the birdlife and the warm showers morning and evening. One couple stayed in a two-bed en-suite tent and found the owners and staff great.

It works well as a launch point. One group was helped to organise a boat and supplies for their time on the lake. While they were out, their vehicle stayed in secure parking with power for their fridges. The food gets good marks. A local regular recommends the burgers and steak, while the overnight group found the dinner and breakfast menu limited but good.

There are a couple of drawbacks. Bats come out at night, and so do the mosquitoes, so cover up and bring repellent. One diner was unhappy that the Wi-Fi costs extra.
