About

Mt Hampden Beach is an artificial beach and leisure ground at Mount Hampden Junction, north-west of Harare. It suits groups of friends or families after a low-key outdoor afternoon, with room to spread out and a boat to ride.

Visitors describe a large site with a children's play area and boat cruises, and one noticed palm trees being planted to give the beach a more natural look. Staff come across as friendly: one visitor praised the gate attendant, and another enjoyed the boat trip even though the rest of the day disappointed.

The complaints are specific. One reviewer found the water very low. A group visiting in August were served drinks well past their best-before date, and nobody directed them to parking before staff asked them to move. A visitor who came in by a back route because of a roadblock on the main road had the place to themselves on a Saturday afternoon. It has a modest 3.4 from 59 Google reviews, so go with open expectations.
