About

Elizabeth Chisholm Gardens is a small public garden on Oxford Road in Harare, listed on Google as an event venue and rated 3.8 from 139 reviews. It suits a quiet picnic, an afternoon on the grass or a small daytime function.

Visitors like its calm. Several describe it as quiet and good for a picnic, with plenty of lawn for games, and one recent reviewer found it neatly kept and a good place to unwind. It is also hired for outdoor events. One visitor has been to a tent wedding and a picnic-style birthday party there, and notes that because the gardens sit in the middle of a suburb, loud music is restricted and events are kept to daylight. They suggest confirming the rules with the City of Harare booking office.

Upkeep has been uneven. One visitor found most of the swings broken, so children may be disappointed, and another found the place unkempt and was asked to pay by people who could not say what the charge was for. The gardens have a wheelchair-accessible entrance, car park and toilet.

“This is a small park as you might find in an English town but without the anti social youths you might find in the UK. Swings are almost all broken so kids might be dissapointed. Lots of grass for games and picnics”
