About
Zambezi National Park lies beside Victoria Falls, with game drives that run down to the Zambezi River. Rated 4.6 from over 350 Google reviews, it suits visitors to the Falls who want a wildlife outing as part of their stay.
What people see varies, but the lists are long: elephant, giraffe, zebra, impala, buffalo, hippo, hyena and baboon all turn up in reviews. One group who had seen no elephants in a week at Hwange turned north towards the river and found dozens, from 30-year-olds down to calves less than a year old. Another visitor was helped by a ranger to track down rhino, and also saw a leopard. One couple had breakfast in the bush beside the Zambezi.
Timing matters. A visitor on an early-morning drive in July found it bitterly cold and saw little until the end, and was told late afternoon is better, when animals come down to drink. Pack warm layers for winter mornings, and give yourself enough time in the park.
