About
Lion & Cheetah Park is a private wildlife park at the 23km peg on the A5 Bulawayo road, in the Somerby area outside Harare. It is one of the easiest big-cat outings from the capital and suits families, school groups and visitors with a spare half day.
Reviewers are close to unanimous that it is worth the trip. The lion drive-through is what people talk about most, with lions lounging metres from the car; one visitor also saw white lions. Several praise the guides who walk you round the enclosures, calling them professional and knowledgeable, and say the animals looked healthy and the grounds clean. There is a self-drive section with zebra, wildebeest, ostrich and antelope, and one visitor watched zebra run into the water hole. Others mention a very old tortoise, cub encounters, braai facilities, benches for picnics, a playground and a café, plus Snake World next door for reptiles and crocodiles.
Visitors consistently call it good value. The main advice is to go early and make a full day of it, since there is far more to do than a quick drive through. It holds 4.2 from over 550 Google reviews.
