About

Makumbiri Game Park is a private game park in the Mazowe district, out along the northern road towards Mvurwi and about an hour from Harare. The ground is a mix of open country and hills, with antelope, plains game and good birding. Day visitors are taken round on guided tours booked in advance rather than driving themselves.

What reviewers remember most is the quiet. Several describe it as a calm place to get away from city noise, and one found it well suited to couples wanting a romantic day out. The staff get consistent praise for being warm, patient and informative. One enthusiastic visitor lists a game drive, a cruise, quad biking and horse riding among the activities, and another mentions wifi at the resort area.

The one practical gripe is getting there: a visitor wanted more signage along the route, so have directions ready before you set off. There is no accommodation on the park itself; it works with a lodge in Mvurwi, about 20km away. Makumbiri holds 4.4 from 84 Google reviews.

“Lovely space, there is wifi by the resort, plenty of activities too, very tranquil and beautifully close to nature and picturesque, would have wanted more signage on the way to the resort though. Definitely worth a visit!🌅”
