About

Twala Trust is an animal rescue and rehabilitation sanctuary in the Goromonzi area east of Harare. It cares for sick, injured and maimed animals and, where it can, returns them to the wild. It suits families and animal lovers looking for a quiet day out that also supports the work. It is rated 4.5 from over 150 Google reviews.

Visitors are moved by the care the animals get. One describes staff who are completely devoted to getting each animal well again. Another spent two weeks volunteering and says the animals are in good hands. Recent visitors found it clean and the staff helpful, and one felt the entrance fee was fair. Another adds that the money goes towards the upkeep of the animals and the sanctuary.

It also makes an easy family outing. Several people call it peaceful and surrounded by nature. You can bring a picnic and your own braai, and one visitor says the braai stands cost nothing extra. There is a small café too, which one visitor remembers for its cakes and milkshakes.

Reviewers say it relies on visitors to keep the food and medicines coming.
