About

Gonarezhou National Park is a remote park in the Chiredzi area, with Chipinda Pools as its listed address. Rated 4.7 from 70 Google reviews, it suits travellers prepared for distance and slow going in return for wild, beautiful country.

Visitors describe it as beautiful and untamed. The Chilojo Cliffs are singled out, and one group camping in the park watched a leopard across the river from their site. Elephants are everywhere, the same reviewer says, though many seemed agitated, so give them plenty of room. Others praise the game drives and a well-informed guide who led their group.

Don't visit on a whim. One visitor who arrived reluctant left in awe, but warns that it is far away, that moving through the park is slow and tedious, and that accessibility is low. That reviewer recommends travelling with a tour operator. If you plan to drive yourself, allow plenty of time.

“I visited slightly reluctantly - i left feeling a sense of awe for the place. Very beautiful. Ensure you travel with agency. It is far away and moving through the camp can be slow and somewhat tedious. Accessibility is low but novelty is high. It isnt a place to be taken lightly.”

“Gonarezou is a fantastic area to visit and camp in. Wild and beautiful. So many elephants but unfortunately many seem quite agitated. One afternoon we were lucky enough to a leopard across the river from our camp. The Chilojo Cliffs are beautiful.”
