About

Imire Lodge, near Inoro, offers game drives and close encounters with rhinos and elephants, and holds a 4.4 rating from 391 Google reviews. It suits families and Harare-based visitors who want a safari day out, with the option of staying the night.

The rhinos and elephants are the draw. Several reviewers describe getting close to both, and one family fed them. Game drives with knowledgeable guides turn up giraffe, zebra, buffalo, wildebeest, several kinds of antelope, warthogs and even pythons, though one visitor points out there are no big cats. A family on a day trip was greeted with tea and coffee, spent about three hours on the drive, and ate lunch by a lake while elephants fed nearby. Their young children loved it. Guests who stayed overnight describe comfortable rooms, friendly staff and very good food.

The drive is the only real catch. The same day-trip family found the toll road to Marondera good but the last hour or so slow and bumpy.
