About

Nyanga National Park covers the hills and rivers of the Eastern Highlands, with waterfalls, mountain hiking and campsites. It suits families and groups who like being outdoors and don't mind rough roads. It is rated 4.3 from more than 1,500 Google reviews.

Visitors keep mentioning the fresh mountain air and the scenery. Hikers point to Nyangani Mountain for the views. One visitor did the skywalk above the falls at Mutarazi and found it a way to face their fears, crediting patient guides on both the skywalk and the Nyangani climb. Locals are described as friendly and welcoming.

The roads are the recurring problem. Several reviewers say parts of the park can't be reached without a four-wheel drive, and one says the poor roads damaged their sedan. Getting around on public transport is hard.

If you plan to camp, one visitor who pitched a tent says the Mtarazi Falls campsite has very few facilities. Bring everything you need if you are staying more than one night.

“Great park to spend some days. There are campsite places where one can pitch his/her own tent, although moving around there in public transport is pretty difficult. The campsite at Mtarazi Falls has very few facilities, so I advice to bring everything you can if you plan to…”

“Beautiful scenic views all round with plenty of unique activities for the outdoor loving families and touring groups. The people are very friendly and welcoming to visitors. Some places however can be inaccessible without a four wheel drive vehicle which is a shame.”
