About
Pungwe Gorge View is a lookout over the Pungwe River gorge and its waterfall, on the Honde Valley side of the Eastern Highlands. It suits drivers with a sturdy vehicle who are already working their way round the area's viewpoints.
Rated 4.5 from 15 Google reviews, it wins people over with the scenery. Visitors describe the river roaring below and a view down the gorge to the falls; one who arrived in mist could still make out the waterfall. Another thought the approach would make a good walk.
The drawbacks are practical. Two reviewers say the road is rough, with big potholes and bumps, and a 4x4 is recommended; one found the northern approach especially hard going in an ordinary car. The site is less well kept than other viewpoints nearby, and one visitor found the trees and bush so overgrown that the waterfall was hard to see and the valley view partly blocked. That reviewer suggests Mutarazi Falls instead.
